ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL INITIATIVES

Based on the implementation of artistic workshops led by guest artists, our initiatives aim to develop expressive abilities, foster self-confidence, and enable individual and collective empowerment.

SonArt’s artistic project, at the intersection of genres such as jazz, early music, pop, and contemporary music, offers a compelling platform for cultural engagement.

Creation, reinterpretation, and the convergence of disparate musical worlds and practices fuel the performances conceived by David Chevallier, and serve as a foundation for rich and varied encounters with audiences that are no less diverse.

Workshops on improvisation and collaborative composition

Improvisation is composing on the spot. It is an attempt to create an instantaneous and fleeting musical work. But the improviser ultimately faces the same challenges as a composer working alone at a desk. The purpose of this workshop is to identify these challenges and learn how to master them. Structure, the flow of musical turns, collective listening, a sense of rhythm and harmony, and work on timbres, these are all aspects to develop in order to create together.

Guitar master class

Designed for advanced students, this master class explores topics such as polyphonic playing, sound production, and the structure of improvisation...

Group tutoring

The experience of a seasoned musician can radically change the way a band or orchestra works during rehearsals. This experience allows them to focus on what’s essential and identify the issues that need priority attention. The goal of this mentorship is to help young musicians develop their artistic vision by drawing on the expertise of their “mentor.” It’s an initiative that pays off over time

Residency at a music school

Having a composer on site for an extended period (ranging from several weeks to several months) is a very enriching and rewarding experience for the students. Knowing that music will be written specifically for them, and regularly interacting with a professional musician who works hand in hand with their teachers, is an exciting adventure for these students. The composer begins by attending ensemble workshops and meeting with the teaching staff in order to propose a tailor-made project capable of bringing as many students as possible together. Then comes the writing phase, and finally, the implementation of the project, with its rehearsals, workshops, and concerts.
